Determination of the ploidy with flow cytometry
Flow Cytometry
Flow cytometry (FCM) is used to detect the ploidy level of plants by examining e.g. leaf samples. In the FCM lab leaf samples have been used since 1992 to identify the ploidy of plants. At first, the tests were conducted only with canola, later also with cereals and other plant species.
The sample processing is conducted with the CrushExpress. This device has been developed in 1999 by Saaten-Union Biotec GmbH and has a registered and protected design. The company MEKU produces the device on demand.
