Main Building (Hovedissen)
Two premises: Leopoldshoehe and Gatersleben
The Saaten-Union Resistenzlabor GmbH was founded in 1984 in Leopoldshoehe by seven German plant breeding companies, the member companies of Saaten-Union GmbH, and the main branch is located in Leopoldshöhe, at Gut Hovedissen.
“Gut Hovedissen”, a large estate, is situated in the township Leopoldshoehe and has been family-owned (Family v.Borries and their descendant Graf v.d. Schulenburg) for more than 240 years now. The modern laboratories and greenhouses of Saaten-Union Biotec GmbH are embedded in the traditional agricultural surroundings of the farm.
In December 2006 a second business premise was built and opened at the campus “Biotechpark Gatersleben” in direct neighbourhood of the IPK Gatersleben (Leibniz Institute for plant genetics and cultivated plant research). The IPK is well known for their research in the area of molecular genetics, biochemistry and physiology of crop plants. The “Biotechpark Gatersleben” is roughly in the middle of Germany, near the city Quedlinburg and offers one of the best infrastructures for plant research with state-of-the-art technology in greenhouses and laboratories and a modern conference centre. About 20 colleagues work here in the fields of research & development as well as service for Saaten-Union Biotec GmbH.
